The Kroger Co. is recalling Mustard Potato Salad and Southern-Style Potato Salad from King Soopers and City Market stores in Colorado because they may contain a dangerous strain of E. coli, the state health department reported Tuesday.

No illnesses have been reported. The recalled products have a “Best If Used By” date of Sept. 5, 2007.

E. coli O157:H7 are potentially deadly bacteria that can cause bloody diarrhea and dehydration. At greatest risk are the very young, seniors and people with compromised immune systems.

The voluntary product withdrawal was issued as a precaution after the Ohio Department of Agriculture picked up the contamination during routine food safety sampling.
