Chicago-based homebuilder Neumann Homes Inc. plans to auction 49 properties in suburban Denver on Oct. 3.
The auction, to be conducted by the Auction Services Group of Benj. E. Sherman & Sons, will include the sale of 15 single-family homes, eight condominiums and 26 home sites.
The three communities included in the auction are the Village at Harmony Park, 12901 Harmony Park Drive in Westminster; Mountain Shadows, 5850 Twilight Ave. in Fire stone; and Serenity Ridge, 7245 S. Millbrook Court in Aurora.
The houses and condos will be open for viewing from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 15-16, Sept. 22-23 and Sept. 29-30.

DENVER
July busiest month on record for DIA
July was a record month for Denver International Airport, with nearly 4.8 million passengers using the airport, the busiest month ever for DIA. That was a 3.6 percent increase from the 4.6 million who used the airport in July 2006.
For the year through July, passenger traffic was up 4.1 percent to nearly 29.3 million passengers using DIA in those seven months.
The growth in passenger traffic came as the number of flight operations at DIA declined slightly to 55,012 in July, down from 56,762 in the year-ago month.
DOVE CREEK
Biodiesel company to start project
San Juan Biodiesel LLC will break ground on a 5 million- gallon-per-year oil crush and biodiesel production facility Saturday in Dove Creek.
The company has contracted with 41 farmers for about 11,000 acres of sunflowers stretching from Alamosa to Price, Utah, with the bulk of the production located in Dolores and Montezuma counties and San Juan County in Utah.

MarkWest Energy to acquire partner
Denver-based MarkWest Energy Partners LP, a natural- gas transporter and processor, has agreed to acquire its general partner, MarkWest Hydrocarbon, in a transaction valued at $734 million.
MarkWest Hydrocarbon shareholders will receive 15.4 million shares of Energy Partners and $240 million. Officials said the deal will allow the limited partnership to grow faster with lower capital costs.

2 Chevron mining units to merge
Two mining subsidiaries of Chevron Corp., the Pittsburg & Midway Coal Mining Co. and Molycorp Inc., will combine under the name Chevron Mining Inc., with headquarters at the Inverness business park in south metro Denver.
The merged operations have 1,400 employees operating five domestic coal and metal mines. The headquarters has about 50 staffers.
Pittsburg & Midway operates coal mines in New Mexico, Wyoming and Alabama.
Molycorp operates a molybdenum mine in Questa, N.M., and a rare-earth mine in Mountain Pass, Calif.

MWH, Jacobs unveil $32 million contract
Broomfield-based MWH, in a joint venture with Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., announced Wednesday that they won a $32 million contract amendment to re-establish an ecosystem in the Everglades.
The contract by the South Florida Water Management District is for program management support services on the Acceler8 Program, which is part of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan.

Sun Microsystems plans 1-for-4 split
Sun Microsystems Inc. intends to pull off a 1-for-4 reverse stock split to boost its share price and improve perceptions of the computing company.
Sun disclosed in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing that it will ask shareholders to approve the reverse split at their Nov. 8 annual meeting. By converting every four Sun shares to one, the step would bring about a four-fold increase in Sun’s share price.

Time Warner Inc. will close its Business 2.0 magazine, which covered the technology industry in Silicon Valley, next month after advertising sales declined.
