DENVER—Denver International Airport says July was its busiest month ever with nearly 4.8 million passengers.

That was 3.6 percent more than the previous record of more than 4.6 million passengers, set in July of last year.

In the first seven months of the year, more than 29 million passengers used the airport, a 4.1 percent increase over the same period a year ago.

Airport Aviation Manager Turner West says strong airline competition and relatively low fares are boosting travel.

DIA says it is the fifth-busiest airport in the United States and 10th-busiest in the world.
