A 42-year-old Kentucky man faces federal charges after several witnesses aboard a flight from Louisville to Denver International Airport told an FBI agent that they saw him exposed and touching himself, according to an arrest affidavit.
Alan Michael Froula of Fisherville, Ky., was charged Tuesday in federal court with unlawfully and knowingly making a lewd, obscene and indecent act on an aircraft. The incident allegedly took place Saturday on a Frontier Airlines flight.
Froula was wearing a polo shirt, khaki shorts, sunglasses and had an iPod strapped to his arm, the affidavit said. But a passenger alerted a flight attendant that his genitals were sticking out of his shorts, the report said.
Two other passengers told police that Froula fondled himself throughout the flight.
“He was smiling and seemed to be enjoying himself,” one of the passengers said in a police report.
Froula was arrested at the airport and later posted $20,000 bail.
His arrest marks the fourth time a passenger has been arrested and charged for their behavior aboard an aircraft at DIA in the last two months.
A California mother was accused of being drunk and hitting her two children aboard a Frontier flight in July; another man on a Southwest Airlines flight in August is accused of trying to choke another passenger and yelling obscenities at the flight crew; and another man was charged with touching a flight attendant sexually on board a JetBlue flight last week.
