AURORA, Colo—A man hospitalized after police found him with life-threatening stab wounds faces charges in the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend.
Aurora police investigators are recommending that 49-year-old David Wells be charged with first-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend, 44-year-old Dawn Cassell. Police believe Wells repeatedly stabbed Cassell Aug. 31 before trying to kill himself.
Officers found Cassell dead and Wells injured after a relative reported finding the two in their townhome. Wells was taken to the hospital.
