BOULDER – A man suspected of breaking into a third-floor apartment fell 24 feet to his death, apparently while trying to get away, police said.
The man was found alive but unconscious on a sidewalk outside the building early Monday. He died at a hospital, authorities said.
His name wasn’t immediately released.
A 57-year-old woman told police a man broke into her apartment through a balcony outside her bedroom and then fled the way he came in after she screamed.
The man said nothing and did not touch the woman, police spokeswoman Julie Brooks said.
When police arrived, they found him lying on the opposite side of the building. Investigators said they believe he had traversed the outside of the structure to the other side and then fell.
He had no climbing equipment and was not wearing shoes or socks, authorities said.
