Jenny Barringer, a junior at the University of Colorado, won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a school-record 9 minutes, 33.95 seconds Saturday at the DecaNation Championships in Paris.
Barringer topped her previous CU record (9:34.64), which she set in June during the USA Track & Field Championships in Indianapolis.
Barringer and France’s Sophie Duarte (9:35.35) were the only runners to finish under the 10-minute mark in the women’s event. The defending champion U.S. team finished third with 100 points, trailing first-place France (104) and Germany (102).
CU, BYU battle to 0-0 tie in women’s soccer
Nikki Marshall nearly scored in the 29th minute on a one-on-one with Brigham Young goalkeeper Erika Woodbury, but a sliding tackle knocked the ball away and the University of Colorado (2-0-2) settled for a 0-0 draw with the visiting Cougars (2-0-1).

Freshman forward Lauren Cavarra, a graduate of Arapahoe High School, opened scoring in the 14th minute to help the University of Denver women’s soccer team (2-1-0) cruise to a 5-1 victory over Northern Colorado (0-3-0) at Pioneer Field.
