After a one-year hiatus, the Go Fast! Royal Gorge Games return to the world’s highest suspension bridge for three days of BASE jumping, bungee jumping and jet-pack flying at the spectacular Royal Gorge near Cañon City. Beginning Friday, some of the world’s most experienced BASE jumpers will leap from the signature 1,053-foot-high bridge spanning the gorge – or from the even higher 1,178-foot aerial tram. A bungee station stretching up to 800 feet below the bridge has attracted athletes from as far as Bali and the Netherlands in years past, zooming past two-man climbing teams ascending the eight-pitch, 1,000-foot canyon walls. New this year, Go Fast jet-pack pilot Eric Scott will perform flights throughout each day of the event, weather permitting. Spectators should also experience all that the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park has to offer, including rides, live music and a 10-acre wildlife park. The park is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. throughout the Gorge Games, which end Sunday.
