BUFFALO, N.Y.—The Buffalo Bills placed Kevin Everett on injured reserve Monday, officially ending his season one day after the backup tight end sustained a severe spinal-cord injury in a game against Denver.

Buffalo re-signed tight end Matt Murphy, who was released Saturday, and also inked tight end Michael Gaines.

Gaines spent the past three seasons with Carolina.

The Bills also announced that cornerback Jason Webster (broken forearm) and free safety Ko Simpson (broken ankle) had surgery. Buffalo coach Dick Jauron said both could miss the rest of the season.

Also, linebacker Coy Wire has a sprained knee and is out indefinitely.
