PHILADELPHIA—Rockies catcher Yorvit Torrealba was ejected from Wednesday night’s game against the Phillies in the second inning after getting called out on strikes.
Torrealba was quickly tossed by plate umpire Bill Welke after arguing a third strike that ended the inning. Torrealba briefly went face-to-face with Welke after he was thrown out, and manager Clint Hurdle ran out to restrain him.
The Phillies and Rockies are battling for a wild-card spot. Philadelphia began the night trailing San Diego by 2 1/2 games with Colorado another game back.
