Christian Gonzalez is a senior at Montbello High School.

She was selected to serve this summer as co-chairperson of the National Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) Youth Advisory Board. Gonzalez led a nine-member team that traveled to Farmville, Va., to discuss school violence issues and develop action plans for her SAVE chapter as well as SAVE chapters across the United States.

As a member of the Youth Advisory Board, one of Christian’s major responsibilities is to help plan and organize the Oct. 24 National SAVE Day as well as the 12th annual National SAVE Youth Summit held in North Carolina in April.

Christian received the Presidential Service Award for her work with SAVE in the 2006-2007 school year. She is a member of the National Honor Society and is involved with El Pomar Youth in Community Service, Hip Hop Coalition, Environmental Learning for Kids and Metro Summer Science Scholars.

This is Christian’s fourth year in the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps and her third on the Women’s Honor Platoon Drill Team.

Christian plans to attend CU-Boulder to major in pre-law, international studies and film, with hopes of going to law school to become an immigration lawyer.
