The new Children’s Hospital in Aurora got a boost today when the 21-foot tall, 780-pound “Balloon Boy” sign was installed on the south side of the building.
The logo has been the symbol of the hospital for more than 25 years. The new Balloon Boy is three-dimensional and made of translucent plastic. He will “be illuminated from the inside, allowing him to glow at night,” the hospital said in a release.
On Sept. 29, paramedics, helicopter pilots and parents will move 150 to 170 young patients the 7 miles from Children’s old location, on East 18th Avenue, to Aurora’s Fitzsimons campus and the new building at 1-225 and East Colfax Avenue.
