An estimated 2,500 people will participate Sunday in Second Wind Fund’s Sixth Annual Walk/Run/Ride at Green Mountain High School in Lakewood, one of the largest suicide-prevention events in the country.
A white dove release, in remembrance of those lost to suicide, will begin the event, which, organizers say, is designed to create a positive environment where people can talk freely about teen mental-health issues.
Food, free massages, giveaways and live bands will be featured.
Colorado First Lady Jeannie Ritter will speak about mental health at 12:15 p.m. A 3-mile timed run and bike ride starts at 12:30 p.m. One- and 3-mile walks start at 12:33 p.m. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.
The Second Wind Fund is the only teen suicide-prevention organization in the nation to provide mental health services to uninsured and under-insured youths.
