The Broncos will have some extra motivation for their first prime-time game of the season Oct. 21 against Pittsburgh.

The team will honor the memory of players Darrent Williams and Damien Nash, Troy Asmus, one of Williams’ agents, said.

Williams, the team’s starting right cornerback, was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in downtown Denver on Jan. 1. Nash, a reserve running back, died suddenly of natural causes 55 days later after hosting a charity basketball game in his native St. Louis. Both men were 24.

Williams’ mother, Rosalind, and Nash’s wife, Judy, will be honored. The women are expected to participate in the pregame coin toss as honorary Broncos captains.

“It’s going to be a special night,” said Denver cornerback Domonique Foxworth, Williams’ closest friend on the team.
