Because waiting until you are in a wilderness survival situation to learn if you have what it takes to survive is a bad idea, the Denver-based Cottonwood Institute is hosting a series of free Survival Skills Clinics with an ample stock of good ideas. Beginning Wednesday at 7 p.m., the nonprofit institute is offering a three-season survival skills clinic at the Denver REI Flagship Store where participants will engage in an interactive survival scenario, learn about survival priorities, tips and techniques, and learn how to make personal survival kits. The clinics are free, although voluntary donations will be used to help underwrite the Cottonwood Institute’s educational programs at public schools in the Denver/Boulder area and fulfill its mission of “Changing the world one adventure at a time.”
