Commerce City – A police officer was injured when his cruiser slid on a wet road and struck a tree Monday evening.
The Commerce City police officer was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and the crash is currently under investigation, police spokesman Lt. Chuck Saunier said.
The crash happened about 9:42 p.m., while the unidentified officer was responding to the area of 5400 Newport Street on the report of another officer needing assistance in a foot pursuit. The cruiser was westbound on East 54th Place at Newport when it skidded off the left side of the road and struck a tree.
No one else was injured in the crash, Saunier said.
