Gourmets and shoe divas
Shopping for a good cause to support? Or a nice gift? You can do both by attending a couple of nice events on Thursday.
Beacon Center’s guild, Cherish the Children, is turning its annual membership event into a food-lover’s dream by hosting a lunch and outdoor gourmet market at Joanie Wattles’ Cherry Hills Village home.
Approximately 15 vendors will be selling cheeses, salsas, quiche, hand-made soaps, maple syrup and cookies at the 11 a.m. event. There’ll also be plenty of samples, including macaroons from Cherry Creek Country Club and the Espo Gelato cones that will be scooped for each guest.
Marstone Jewelers and Shooz, Samantha Castilla’s new shoe boutique in Cherry Creek North, also will have displays.
At 6 p.m. Thursday, footwear fanciers from throughout the city will gather at Macy’s Cherry Creek for the annual Shoe Diva Fashion Show.
It’s a kickoff for the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign and will include informal modeling of designer shoes, music, makeovers by MAC cosmetics and pampering services provided by The Spa at the Omni Interlocken Resort. Epicurean Catering will serve hors d’oeuvres and there’ll be a Cocktails by Jenn martini bar.
Admission is $10 at the door. Call 303-996-8699.
Helping a friend
Until Stage 4 colon cancer rendered him unable to work, John Berry was the most requested singing waiter at Bravo! Ristorante in the Adam’s Mark Hotel. Now friends are rallying to help the popular entertainer meet basic living expenses by staging an auction, dinner and entertainment extravaganza on Saturday night.
An anonymous benefactor has underwritten the evening’s costs so that all money raised will go to Berry, who has exhausted his savings and recently had to sell his beloved piano to pay rent on his small apartment.
