Brandon Stokley is best known for previously being part of Peyton Manning’s three-headed receiving threat. Stokley would like to create a similar identity in Denver.

That legacy will hover over Stokley all week as he and his new teammates try to bounce back from a lackluster home loss to Jacksonville and cure their RCA Dome woes Sunday at Indianapolis.

Stokley, Denver’s third receiver, has nine catches for 144 yards this season. He says he is excited to face his former team.

The Colts parted ways with Stokley, 31, after an injury-filled 2006 season that ended with a ruptured Achilles tendon in December. The initial diagnosis had him missing part of this season, but after signing with the Broncos in March, Stokley was ready to go on the first day of training camp.

“I don’t blame the Colts at all. It was business,” Stokley said. “I was hurt, and there was no idea when I’d be back.

“I am very lucky to be part of this team and what the Broncos are doing. I enjoyed my time in Indianapolis, but I am also enjoying my time here.”
