The Colorado Avalanche today demoted four players — defensemen Johnny Boychuk, Kyle Cumiskey and Jeff Jillson and left wing Cody McLeod — to its American Hockey League affiliate in Cleveland, the team said.
The Avs reduced their training camp roster to 27 players.
Cumiskey was called up to the team late last season and showed promise in a nine-game stint.
Jillson, a former standout at the Univeristy of Michigan, was signed in July. Boychuk signed a one-year deal in June. And McLeod joined the organization in 2006.
