Vice President Dick Cheney will be in Denver Thursday to speak at a Republican fund-raiser hosted at the offices of the Benson Mineral Group, which is headed by former Colorado GOP Chairman Bruce Benson.
Cheney’s appearance, as part of Colorado Victory 2008 reception, will be closed to the public.
The vice president will be flying into Denver this afternoon following a stop at a fund-raiser in Las Vegas, according to a release from his office.
Democrats seized on news of Cheney’s visit as an opportunity to criticize the Bush Administration’s energy policy.
“It should come as no surprise to any Coloradan that the few invitees to Vice President Dick Cheney’s brief visit to raise money for the Colorado Republican party likely will include the who’s who of the Colorado Oil and Gas industry,” Colorado Democratic Spokesman Matt Sugar said in a release.
