Authorities have determined that a death threat emailed to a group of Eagle County real estate agents is a fraud.
The threat, which included a demand that recipients pay $3,000 or be killed, was apparently sent from a computer in Africa using a distribution list, according to Eagle County Sheriff’s Office detective Doug Winters.
“Basically, the email states that the recipient has until 7:30 ‘tonight’ — on the day they receive the email — to reply to the author and set up a time and place to meet and exchange money,” Winters said.
Those who receive the email should report it to the FBI’s Internet crime complaint center,
