The Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League named former Albany Attack coach Bob McMahon its new head coach, replacing hall-of-famer Gary Gait, Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said today.
McMahon, who spent the past four seasons as an assistant coach with the MLL’s Arizona Sting, was the league’s coach of the year in 2002 after taking Albany to the championship game. He was 22-10 in two seasons in Albany.
“Bob has enjoyed tremendous success in the NLL,” Govett said. “I believe he is the right man to coach this team, and he has my unwavering trust and support.”
The team also announced that assistant coaches Russ Heard, Dan Pratt and Ward Sanderson will be retained.
Gait left the Mammoth this summer to coach the University of Syracuse’s women’s team.
McMahon is the fourth head coach in Mammoth history.
