GREELEY, Colo.—The trial of a woman charged with murder in the shooting death of her ex-lover’s wife will be held in Fort Collins instead of Greeley.
Both sides had asked that Shawna Nelson’s trial be moved.
Prosecutors said it would be hard to find enough jurors in Greeley who didn’t have ties to trial witnesses. Defense attorneys argued Nelson couldn’t get a fair trial there.
Nelson is accused of the January 23rd shooting death of 37-year-old Heather Garraus. Nelson’s family says she had a three-year affair with Garraus’ husband and had a son by him.
Judge Roger Klein’s order moving the trial was signed late last week. The trial starts November 29th.
