For 12 years, Colorado has had a fund to protect state witnesses from harm.

During that time, at least 16 witnesses and associates have been murdered

and more than 2,000 felony crimes have been committed against witnesses.

Many people in danger were not even aware that there is a witness protection

program in place.

Is Colorado’s witness protection program adequately funded or even working?

For three days, The Denver Post examines the people and the problems involved in

our state’s witness protection program. We look at the victims, their families and

the resources required to protect them from a problem so large and a system so

broken, it threatens our entire judicial process.

Don’t miss Dying to Testify Sunday through Tuesday

in The Denver Post and online at denverpost.com.
