Was that Eddie Murphy whizzing by Sunday afternoon on 17th Avenue in a flashy, silver Mercedes coupe or a lookalike?
Nope, not him, one source who declined to be identified said. Murphy was not in the scene being shot around dusk on Sunday at 17th and Lafayette streets.
Shooting had been expected to begin Sunday in Denver for “Nowhereland.” The film crew traveling in semis bearing logos of Paramout Pictures of Los Angeles certainly attracted onlookers.
The shoot involved about a dozen extras clad in casual brown attire (khakis pants and sport coats), Hollywood’s take on Denver fashion, no doubt.
A camera suspended over 17th by crane took numerous takes of the Mercedes scooting along. A couple of Denver motorcycle cops were on hand, but the shoot didn’t interfere with normal traffic.
Residents living in Riverfront Park had received flyers telling them that the plaza in front of their homes would be a shoot for the movie. Also, the crew is expected to shoot on Millennium Bridge, several areas around downtown and the skating rink at Belmar.
Filmmakers have been mum on their work since the movie won’t be out for another year.
