Legendary lady: Helen Bonfils led quite a life. Although the public life of the daughter of one of the two men who bought the fledgling Denver Post was highly polished, her private life was one of chaos. New theater: The Arvada Center for the Performing Arts christens its new Black Box Theater with the regional premiere of “Defiance,” written by Pulitzer-winning playwright John Patrick Shanley. The new work is about power, duty, responsibility and what happens when defiance is thrown into the mix. “Defiance” runs through Nov. 4 at the center, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd., Arvada.
