DENVER—The Denver Broncos on Tuesday released returner/receiver Domenik Hixon and re-signed wide receiver Brian Clark, who was waived on Saturday.
Hixon, a fourth-round pick out of Akron last year who missed his entire rookie season with a broken foot, didn’t catch a pass in the first month of the season. He returned seven punts for a 4.6-yard average and 12 kickoffs for a 22.8-yard average.
Hixon was best known this season as being the ball carrier in an on-field collision during the season opener that left Buffalo Bills tight end Kevin Everett with a life-threatening spinal-cord injury. Everett has since begun to show signs of recovery.
Clark is a second-year player who signed as a college free agent from North Carolina State. He made the roster this year but was inactive for the first three games before being waived Saturday.
As a rookie, Clark spent the first six weeks on the Broncos practice squad before being promoted last October. He led the team with 23 kickoff returns for 512 yards and a 22.3-yard average.
