Getting your player ready...
DENVER—Baseball isn’t the only game in town. The Colorado Rockies’ improbable dash into the playoffs has inspired a lot of word play in Colorado.
Gov. Bill Ritter on Tuesday declared October to be “Rocktober.” The Rocky Mountain News and The Denver Post used the same word in front-page headlines the day before.
Ritter didn’t stop there, however. His 320-word proclamation included a brief account of Colorado’s 13-inning victory over San Diego to win the wild card.
He also put in a plug for outfielder Matt Holliday to win Most Valuable Player, shortstop Troy Tulowitzki to win Rookie of the Year and Clint Hurdle to win manager of the year.
