The Mountain Sports Network has taken its fight to get carriage on the Dish Network and DirecTV to national TV. The network dedicated to college games from the NCAA’s Mountain West Conference is airing commercials on broadcast networks – during college football games – urging fans of the Mountain West to call Dish and DirecTV to request the network.

“Talks with the satellite companies are active and ongoing,” said Kim Carver, vice president and general manager of the Mountain.

The Mountain, or the Mtn, broadcasts games from nine universities, including Colorado State and the Air Force Academy. Carver wouldn’t say how much is being spent on the campaign but said it’s “significant.”

Comcast and College Sports TV each own a 50 percent stake in the Mtn, which is based out of the Comcast Center in Centennial.

DirecTV spokesman Robert Mercer confirmed that the satellite provider is still in discussions with the network. Douglas County-based EchoStar, which operates Dish, has not reached a deal to carry the Mtn.
