DENVER—Frontier Airlines launched nonstop service Friday between its Denver hub and Rapid City, S.D., and between Denver and Sioux City, Iowa.

Rapid City initially will be served with 76-seat Embraer E-170 planes pending Federal Aviation Authority approval for Frontier to serve the city through its subsidiary Lynx Aviation. Lynx plans to use 74-seat Bombardier Q400 aircraft.

Frontier said it also was donating 50 pairs of tickets to nonprofit organizations in the Black Hills community through an essay contest.
