New Steamboat gondola on tap

Construction of a new gondola at Steamboat Springs is scheduled to begin next summer.

Wildhorse Meadows developer Resort Ventures West is spending about $4 million on the gondola, which will start at the residential community located between downtown and the base of the mountain. It will take about five minutes for passengers to reach the base area.

The gondola should be finished for the 2009-2010 ski season.

Home-buying classes offered

The Colorado Rural Housing Development Corp. is offering homebuyer-education courses that offer tips for negotiating the price of a home, shopping for a loan, and establishing and maintaining good credit.

  • 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at Mountain Terrace, 3650 W. 84th Ave., Westminster.
  • 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 20 at Colorado Housing Enterprises, 7 E. Bijou St., Suite 209, Colorado Springs.

    Mortgage brochure updated

A brochure to educate homebuyers and those refinancing a loan has been updated to include information about adjustable-rate mortgages.

“Mortgage Loans,” first published in 2001 by the American Financial Services Association and the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators, contains worksheets to help consumers shop for the best mortgage deal and determine an affordable monthly payment. A glossary defines basic, but important, loan terms, such as annual percentage rate, finance charge, balloon payment and arbitration clause.
