Getting your player ready...

For the record: Kansas State is 3-2 and 1-1 in the Big 12 Conference. The Wildcats were ranked No. 24 last week by The Associated Press after winning at Texas, but fell out of the polls after losing 30-24 at home to Kansas.

Streaking: Until Saturday, Kansas State had not allowed archrival Kansas to score a touchdown in Manhattan since the 1999 meeting.

Who’s hot: Senior wide receiver Jordy Nelson. After earning Big 12 offensive player of the week honors after the win over Texas, Nelson grabbed 10 passes for 137 yards against KU, including a 68-yard TD pass.

Who’s not: K-State’s running game. The Wildcats entered the game against Kansas ranked 10th among Big 12 teams in rushing offense, only ahead of two pass-happy, spread-offense teams, Baylor and Texas Tech. They showed no progress Saturday, netting just 53 yards on 21 rushes.

Key stat: KSU had just 2 yards rushing in the second half Saturday.

FYI: Sophomore QB Josh Freeman completed 31-of-48 passes for 305 yards against Kansas. But he also threw three interceptions, two in the final 2 1/2 minutes of the game.

Coachspeak: “That’s one of those situations where you’re the head football coach and that’s your responsibility, so that’s my deal. … We should have been able to perform in that situation and we did not.” – KSU head coach Ron Prince, after his team squandered a chance to beat KU but had two late interceptions.
