Where do we start? How about with a quote from Mike Shanahan.
“I don’t know if I’ve ever been more embarrassed,” Shanahan said.
That pretty much sums up Sunday’s 41-3 humiliation against the Chargers. There’s no sense wading in the futility of it all, what with 11 games remaining on the Broncos schedule.
Question is, what do they need to do to avoid more embarrassments? For one thing, they can get better in the red zone.
Take a look at the Broncos’ third-down conversions and you see a pretty efficient offense. They’ve converted 29 out of 61, better than 47 percent.
They’re two-for-10 in the red zone – zero-for-five when they run the ball. Yes, the field gets shorter in the red zone. Yes, it’s more difficult to move the chains. But the good teams find a way to get it done.
The Broncos? As we speak, it’s impossible to call them a good team.
