Had Jennifer Hovden known the Rockies were going to make it to the National League Championship Series, she might have held off on auctioning what may be the weirdest team memorabilia item on eBay.
The 29-year-old Firestone resident has caused quite a stir in local and national media since posting on eBay a bag of Rockies left-fielder Matt Holliday’s used sunflower seed shells.
She’s fielded questions from potential bidders like: “How can you be sure those are really Holliday’s?”
And one of the more peculiar ones: “Do you think you can clone Matt Holliday from the DNA left on those seeds?”
The auction, which ends today, had a bid of $10.69 late Tuesday.
Hovden, an office manager, scooped up the used seeds from left field at Coors Field during the Sept. 28 fireworks game when fans were allowed onto the field for the display.
