Group Show. The main attraction at the Rule Gallery, 227 Broadway, is “Quasi-Symmetries,” a first-rate solo show by veteran Denver artist Clark Richert.

But an unheralded group show running concurrently through Nov. 3 in the space’s rear gallery is worth a look on its own.

While some of the artists represented, such as Mary Ehrin and Jeff Starr, are firmly established in the Denver scene, others are talented newcomers whose names are likely to be better known soon.

Among the latter is Zhang Xi, a Chinese artist studying at the Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design. He is represented by a compelling composition of masked figures showing a surprisingly mature conceptual approach and fine technical command.

Also notable is a small group of sensuous, patterned abstractions of Barbara Takenaga, a former Colorado resident who now lives in New York City. 303-777-9473 or .
