It’s official: the Rockies are cooler than Spiderman.
After 7-year-old Daniel Brockman underwent surgery at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center Tuesday morning to repair his broken arm, orthopedic surgeon Dr. Laurel Benson offered to craft him a Spiderman cast to show off to his friends.
Then she saw Daniel’s father, Mark, in a Rockies hat and shirt, and gave Daniel the choice between a Spiderman and Rockies-themed cast.
“Dan got all excited when she mentioned the Rockies and said, ‘yeah, yeah, yeah. I’ll take the Rockies,'” Mark Brockman said, and his son left the operating room with a sparkling purple and white arm cast complete with the Rockies logo.
“He’s going to be in that cast for four weeks,” Benson said. “So hopefully it makes him feel special.”
Brockman broke his arm Monday night while playing basketball with siblings. His family will watch the Rockies take on the Arizona Diamondbacks at their home in Castle Rock.
