With Pro Bowl center Tom Nalen out for the season after tearing a bicep, the Broncos today replaced him with offensive lineman P.J. Alexander, a former Denver player who was most recently with Atlanta.
The Broncos agreed to terms with Alexander for his second stint with the team. It is expected to be announced later today.
Alexander was waived by Denver in August 2006 and signed by Atlanta. He was cut this summer by the Falcons. Alexander was with Denver from 2003-06.
Alexander can play all three line positions and will be backup at guard and center. Denver has one more open roster spot because of the torn groin suffered by tight end Nate Jackson.
Also, Denver added guard Isaac Snell to the 53-man roster. Snell will fill the spot formerly held by Jackson, who suffered his injury on Sunday. Snell was signed off Tennessee’s practice squad.
Snell played with the Jets’ in 2005. He formerly was a defensive lineman at North Dakota State.
