Getting your player ready...

A year ago, I had shelves full of cleaners and a house so dirty I was afraid of it.

Today, one shelf holds three items: scouring powder, glass cleaner and NOW All Purpose Cleaner. And that shelf is pretty clean, as is everything around it.

NOW made the difference. It’s a biodegradable concentrate with a light citrus scent that’s sold by the gallon. It can clean your oven when sprayed full strength. Diluted 30-to-1, it does a great job on almost everything else.

It’s so nice to use, I really do feel different about housekeeping. I just grab a terry-cloth rag or scrubby sponge and spray the diluted mix on sinks, counters and light switches. It picks up dust, cuts through grease and dissolves the kitchen- floor schmutz.

When diluted 10-to-1, NOW can even be used to spot-clean upholstery. Trust a woman with four kids and a white couch!

It really is (almost) a pleasure to watch NOW go to work on that crusty stuff around the base of the hot- and cold-water handles in our bathroom. I also use the diluted spray on the refrigerator shelves, and there’s no need to rinse.

I once was in despair after watching soap scum and mineral deposits cloud our granite shower but was afraid to use harsh chemicals on the natural, unsealed stone. NOW was the answer then, too.

It helps that I don’t mind getting NOW on my skin. The label says it was not tested on animals, and can remove grass stains, blood and crayons.

All I know is that with NOW, I’m no longer afraid of anything in my house. Except maybe the clutter in my daughter’s bedroom.

NOW All Purpose Cleaner is $16.99 per gallon at Eze Mop, 1227 E. 17th Ave., Denver, 303-832-1371. Also available from Mirachem Corp. at 800-662-0333 or .
