One Book, One Denver
Deadline: Nov. 5 “Articles of War,” by Nick Arvin, is the 2007 selection for the One Book, One Denver reading program in which Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper encourages residents to read the same book and participate in community events on the novel and its author.
The Lighthouse Writers Workshop is sponsoring an essay, poetry and short story contest in which teenagers are invited to write about something that refers to an event or person from history. Short stories or essays should be marked as fiction or nonfiction and should be no more than 1,000 words in length. All entries must be typed and double-spaced. Poems can be single-spaced. Finalists will be announced by Arvin on Nov. 14. Send e-mail entries to info@lighthousewriters.org, or mail entries to 2123 Downing St., Denver, CO 80205.
