A foster parent has been arrested in connection with the death of a 2-year-old girl who suffered severe head injuries.
Jules Lynn Cuneo, 34, is being held without bail in the death Wednesday of Alize Vick.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office was called to Cuneo’s home at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a child who was unconscious. The girl was flown by Flight for Life helicopter to Memorial Hospital. She died of her injuries about 5 p.m. Wednesday at the hospital.
Cuneo told sheriff’s detectives that the girl had fallen head-first from a parked car and had later hit her head on a coffee table at Cuneo’s home.
Detectives later learned that Cuneo “had become frustrated with toddler while at the residence and threw her down, causing her head to strike a coffee table,” according to a sheriff’s press release.
An autopsy is to be completed Friday.
Cuneo is a foster parent for Kid’s Crossing, a contract provider for the El Paso County Department of Human Services.
The child’s father, Christopher Michael Vick, 22, is serving a six-month sentence for a misdemeanor at the El Paso County Jail. Vick’s jail booking sheet says he has a tattoo that says “Alize.”
The child’s mother reportedly is in a Colorado prison.
