Jose Theodore will make his first start of the season Friday night when the Avalanche heads to St. Louis for the first of back-to-back games, coach Joel Quenneville said Thursday morning after practice.
The 31-year-old goalie, who had knee surgery in the offseason, played over the weekend in Cleveland for the team’s minor league club. He stopped 21-of-24 shots for the Lake Erie Monsters on Saturday night.
The Avs play at home Saturday night against Columbus. Peter Budaj is 2-1 in goal this season and played back-to-back games last week with the season opener Oct. 3 and the game at Washington on Oct. 4.
