Zach Thenell threw for three touchdowns and Tommy Flanagan ran for three more Saturday as Bear Creek whipped Palmer 42-14 Saturday afternoon at Jefferson County Stadium.
The Bears, ranked No. 4 in The Denver Post/9News Class 5A poll, are 6-1 overall and in the 5A South Metro League. Palmer is 1-6, 1-6.
Thenell, a sophomore, threw for 314 yards.
The Bears next get Doherty, then finish the regular season at top-ranked and defending 5A state champion Columbine in Week 9.
Horizon 38, Northglenn 7
WESTMINSTER — Stephen Castiglione threw for four TDs and ran for another as the Hawks handled the Norse in the 5A Front Range League at the Adams 12 North Stadium.
Horizon improved to 5-2, 3-2. Northglenn slipped to 1-6, 0-4. The Hawks led 31-7 at halftime.
George Washington 41, North 8 — Joe Harris, Tyree Bishop and Ken Henderson each surpassed 100 yards rushing as the Patriots downed the Vikings in the 4A Denver Prep League.
Harris (177), Bishop (109) and Henderson (105) each scored a touchdown as George Washington improved to 3-4, 2-0. Samuel Casillas added two touchdown tosses for the Patriots.
North is 1-6, 0-3.
Jefferson — The Saints’ football team, which has been plagued by low numbers as well as ineligibilities and injuries, will continue its season, according to Kevin Lamb, Jeffco’s district athletic director.
Jefferson’s game against Summit in Week 6 ended after a half and the team forfeited Friday against D’Evelyn, but it will continue on a week-to-week basis to finish the season, Land said. The Saints have three games left to play.
