A green hotel in Snowmass
Viceroy Snowmass will be the anchor hotel to Snowmass’ new base village.
Developer Related WestPac has designed Viceroy Snowmass to be one of the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified silver hotels in North America. To be operated by Los Angeles-based Kor Hotel Group, it’ll be a 236-room ski-in/ski-out condo hotel. Sales start around Thanksgiving. Related WestPac purchased the Snowmass base-village project from Aspen Skiing Co. and Intrawest in March.
Funding for energy repairs
The Denver Urban Renewal Authority is offering a program that helps qualifying Denver homeowners to use low- and zero-interest loans to make emergency home repairs and essential improvements.
The authority’s Housing Rehabilitation Loan Program helps homes become more energy efficient, saving the homeowner money and improving the property’s safety and value.
The authority obtains three bids from certified contractors and oversees all construction, including schedules, permits, payments and approvals.

Minority mortgages down
Mortgage lending to minorities dropped 7 percent last year, according to the 2007 Minority Lending Report released by Compliance Technologies and Genworth Financial.
The only exception was among African-Americans, which showed an increase of 0.6 percent over 2005.
The greatest decline was among Asian buyers – off 21 percent. Latino homebuying declined 5.2 percent.
Nearly four of every 10 mortgages extended to minorities last year were subprime loans – more than double the rate for white borrowers. Subprime lending was more prevalent among African-American borrowers, followed by Latinos and Asians.
