Jenna Billingsley and Lauren Cavarra scored two goals apiece Sunday, leading the University of Denver women’s soccer team to a 7-0 victory over visiting Troy in a Sun Belt Conference match.
Kyle McFarlane put the Pioneers (6-3-4, 3-1-2 Sun Belt) ahead 1-0 in the 11th minute when she chipped a shot over Troy goalkeeper Karla Smith from 34 yards out. Troy (5-10-0, 1-5-0) trailed 2-0 at halftime.
Cowgirls shut out Falcons. The Wyoming women’s soccer team turned goals from juniors Tamika Wilson and Amanda Lathrop into a 2-0 win over Air Force in a Mountain West Conference match at the academy.
The Cowgirls (6-7-1, 1-1-0 MWC) led 1-0 at halftime after Wilson’s goal in the 23rd minute.
Lathrop, a forward from Green Mountain High School, also helped drop Air Force to 2-10-2 and 0-3-0.
DU sweeps New Orleans. Sparked by its defense, the University of Denver women’s volleyball team swept host New Orleans 30-17, 30-27 and 30-28 in a Sun Belt Conference match.
The Pioneers (13-9, 7-2 Sun Belt) combined for 11 blocks. New Orleans (11-11, 5-4) managed just four.
