CENTENNIAL, Colo.—Arapahoe County sheriff’s deputies believe a person who stole $100 worth of copper wire from a power substation early Sunday may have suffered severe burns.

Deputies say a thief cut a fence at a substation in Centennial and was cutting wires when that person cut into a live wire, which created an explosion and fire.

The fire caused about $4,000 in damage.
