DENVER—The Colorado Rockies may be more than just a mile high if they land in the World Series.

The Colorado team hoped to clinch the National League pennant Monday night with a victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks to take the best-of-seven series 4-0.

While Frontier Airlines offers satellite TV on flights, its contract does not cover the Fox Network so it is negotiating with DirecTV to get permission to show the World Series if the Rockies are participants, airline spokesman Joe Hodas said Monday.

Frontier also needs to make sure it has the rights to air live television. “We are trying very hard to get that squared away,” Hodas said. He does not believe there will be additional costs involved because it would be a one-time promotion for Frontier.

DirecTV spokesman Robert Mercer declined comment Monday.

JetBlue Airways Corp. will offer the World Series free of charge to passengers through its current DirecTV contract, company spokesman Bryan Baldwin said.

It isn’t the first time Frontier has made such arrangements—it also shows the Super Bowl on its flights every year.

Frontier offers flights to 59 destinations in 30 states, Mexico and Canada.
