Denver Public Schools teachers have voted 89 percent in favor of ratifying a new contract, Kim Ursetta, president of the Denver Classroom Teachers Association, announced tonight.
The school board will vote on the contract Thursday and is expected to approve it.
Union officials say an extra paid day in the new contract plus a cost-of-living increase is the equivilent of an average 4 percent raise.
The new contract also includes a $21 increase for every teacher’s benefit allowance, raising it to $396 a month.
Teachers have been working without a contract since spring.
