A 41-year-old woman killed her three-year-old son and then herself on Monday, the Teller County Sheriff’s Office said today. Sheriff Kevin Dougherty identified the woman as Michelle Rodgers of Divide. He did not release the name of the child.
Dougherty said a family member discovered the bodies and called the Teller County Sheriff’s Department about 7:30 p.m. Monday. Investigators arrived within six minutes, he said.
“Facts and evidence gathered at the scene indicated this crime was a homicide and suicide,” the sheriff said. “Both Michelle Rodgers and her three-year-old son died from a handgun wound.”
