Globe-trotting design
“Substance: Diverse Practices From the Periphery” is the name for two design-minded exhibits at the Metropolitan State College of Denver Center for Visual Art (CVA) and the Emmanuel Gallery on the Auraria Campus. Both were engineered by professor and curator Lisa Abendroth. “I’m interested in how design changes lives and meets unaddressed needs,” Abendroth says. Objects on display range from a special kids toothbrush to a filter for bacterially contaminated water. The exhibit is on view at the Emmanuel Gallery through Oct. 27, and at CVA through Nov. 9.
