Coloradans should check their freezers for tainted pot pies that may be linked to an outbreak of salmonellosis, state consumer protection officials said Wednesday.
ConAgra frozen pot pies, sold under Banquet and generic store brand labels, have been recalled after seven Salmonellacases have been reported in Colorado.
Bad pot pies have caused illness in the following Colorado counties: Adams, El Paso, Jefferson, Mesa and Weld.
Nationally, at least 211 people from 35 states have become ill, officials said.
The following brands and varieties, including chicken, turkey and beef, are subject to recall:
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service is investigating the source of contamination.
The symptoms of Salmonella include fever, diarrhea and abdominal cramps, health officials said. Salmonella can cause life-threatening infections for people with poor health or weakened immune systems.
